The potential bottle neck in any LAN or WAN is in its Layer One design

Layer One is the foundation of the OSI seven layer architecture that provides the link to the upper layers. This phyical layer enables the transfer of the data from the core network hardware to destinations within your data centre, server to Storage Area Network and switch to workstation in the office. And yet without serious consideration for it’s design or implementation, layer one could be the bottle neck in your network, reducing expected performance, restricting network speed, limiting your systems’ expandability and or system scalability.

A well planned Layer One will be a long term network asset. An undisciplined evolution of the physical layer will certainly be the fundamental weakness in any LAN or WAN system design and implementation.

With the convergence of engineering technologies occurring in smart buildings, enterprise environments is driving previously independent networks to merge into one encompassing communications network. These converging technologies include Building Management Systems, Security Systems and your Ethernet/computer network.

Layer One Engineering & Networks Pty Ltd  was established to provide standards-based awareness and information and assist the engineering community in providing standards’ compliant, cabling solutions.

Layer One Engineering & Networks Pty Ltd acts as an advocate/certifier for corporate and government clients to ensure that proposed designs comply with the International ISO and Australian Standards as a bare minimum.

We can provide reports from site visits to ensure relevant cabling standards are met; audit field cabling test results provided by contractors independent from the cabling vendor..

Patrick Attard & Danny Tsung are the key principals at Layer One Engineering & Networks Pty Ltd . Patrick & Danny have a combined practical experience of over 30 years, specialising in providing structured cabling/layer one network technical support, professional industry training and specific cabling services to the developer and user of structured cabling market.
